The “Dicke Marie”
She is supposed to be more than 800 years old and the oldest tree in Berlin, much older than the oak in Grunewald near to Schwanenwerder. The name was given to her by the Humboldt Brothers after a well known overweight cook in the Castle Of Tegel. In 1778 even Goethe visited this tree.
Location: An der Malche – to “Dicke Marie” next to the park of the Castle Of Tegel – Schwarzer Weg – passing Club de Pêche Français de Berlin – along the lake until Arbeiter Strand – and back through the forest / Distance: 9 km / Public Transport: U6 Alt-Tegel / from city center: 13 km / North / Weather: -1 °C, sunny and cloudy with dark skies / Camera: Nikon D90, 18-105 mm lens
Glorious captures!
