We went to see Urquhart Castle this day and walked down to Drumnadrochit afterwards. The castle is a very well visited spot overrun by families, busses and instagrammers. The castles history is well explained by a short movie in the movie theater. But the sensation of the movie is the curtains opening at the end of it with a view on the real castle in bright sunshine. With some imagination you can see, how the people lived there.
The bridge over Neisse river to Poland unfortunately was closed because of corona virus. The park continues over there.
On our way we visited the village of Glashütte because we thought this would be THE Glashütte, where the watches are manufactured. That isn’t the case. A quite pretty village anyway. But very touristic also. We didn’t stay for long.

Built around the 13th century the ruins of the castle of Tolštejn is today a very famous touristic destination. Go there by car or hike from Jiřetín pod Jedlovou (Sankt Georgental).
We made a short side trip to Ross Castle builds in the 15th century and situated in very peaceful surroundings where swans and ducks meet lakes and sunsets.
On our second day we made a visit to fabulous Muckross House and had a long walk through the woods and to Torc Waterfalls. I don’t like guided tours but you can’t look at the house without it. The guided tour through the house we had, was very informative and our guide – Patsy – told the stories with interesting anecdotes and without any longeurs.
