Mushroom Picking Weekend

We had our best friends over to pick mushrooms last October. Unfortunately the weather was bone dry for two weeks in advance and our harvest wasn’t as good as three weeks in advance. But anyway: Good food, good friends and lots of laughter. Those days that will stay in mind.

Berlin Day Hike: Dramatic Skies At Oder River

We had a nice weekend walk at Oder River with a lot of changing weather.

Scottish Highlands: A Walk To Dun Derdail Facing Ben Nevis

This was our last hiking day and it was rather short. In the afternoon we had to leave for Glasgow because our flight waited on us the following day. From the top of the mountain we even saw the burial ground we passed by two days ago. It’s the last picture and it’s the place next to the river with the huge trees.

So this meant saying goodbye to the mountains and to walking everyday. It was great! We’ll come back!

A Walk Through The City And The New Berlin City Castle

We made a “culture day” this day and saw the exposition “Berlin Global”. And for the first time we have been to the newly built Humboldt Forum aka the Stadtschloss. The castle in the middle of the city has been rebuilt at the place were once the Palast der Republik stood. The latter has been contaminated by asbestos and has been the government building of the former GDR which was a dictatorship. But at the same time, a lot of people identified with this state and this building and I still think, it was wrong to tear it down and build some kind of Disney World from the past at its place.

Berlin Day Hike: A Trip To Oder River

We had a hot sunny day near to Oder River in Stolpe and Stolzenhagen. Pavlov saw and played with dogs and learned, how to jump into the water from above. At first he was kind of reserved, but once he got it, he was unstoppable.

Kew Gardens: Welcome To Fantasyland

At the beginning I thought, there is quite some cheesiness in the glas sculptures of Dale Chihuly exposed in Kew Gardens in London. Bright colors, excessive forms – just an overdose of everything. But than I remembered plants I have photographed in the last years. Nature is like that. Exagerated, colourful and immoderate. So I’m quite d’accord with the artists title “reflections on nature”. Take a look and decide what you think is art and what is nature.
Definitly a must-see.
