We had a very colorful summer hike near Ihlow in Brandenburg. As it is June, everything is in bloom and the fields show their most splendid dresses. We even saw a deer, but fortunately Pavlov didn’t. I guess he is a city dog.
If you are around Ihlow, don’t miss to visit Biohof Café and have a rhubarb yeast cake. Yummy!
Still not in form, we chose to have a short walk near Garzin along Haussee and over the fields. What shall I say? Spring really tries, but the weather is still cold and mostly dark and a lot of plants still wait for their signal to start their new life in bloom. Pavlov is getting bigger and bigger and is coming back when we are calling quite steadlily. He chased the two huge cranes over the fields and even came back when I called him in the middle of hunting. Maybe only because the cranes started flying away and he recognized, that his chances of catching them were very thin.
On the last picture Pavlov is becoming a grown up :-). He still pees like a baby, only some times – very rarely – he lifts his leg.
The Jewish Cemetary of Berlin-Weißensee is the biggest still existing Jewish Cemetery in Europe with around 42 hectare (1000m x 500 m) and 116.000 graves. Unlike a lot of other cemeteries in Germany I have visited, it is still active. Since the 70s it is listed as a historic monument.

It’s a very calming, beautiful and meaningful walk in the center of Berlin.
We spent New Years Eve on the countryside and had a cold walk around the lake near our house.
We took a hike around Maxsee in Hoppegarten and as always during this time of the year, the sun went down early and we reached home when it was already dark. I love this special atmosphere and light in the forest when you think nature is sleeping because of the low temperatures, but you become aware that this is not true.
You could say it’s just some trees in a creek, but there is much more to this enchanted place north of Berlin. And it got around: On Sunday and with no possibility to see your friends other than outside, a lot of people took this beautiful and easy to reach hike in the forest near Borgsdorf.
A small tour around our home lake and again birds and mushrooms everywhere. But also those marvelous artworks made by nature on the ground. Every time the type of trees changed on our walk, the color combination on the floor changed with them.
We walked around a small lake near Strausberg. And in the evening we had a nice meal with mushrooms we picked ourselves. And no, of course we didn’t eat all of those you see in the pictures.
We hiked around Großer and Kleiner Tornowsee and along Stobber creek next to Buckow last Sunday. The area is one of my favorite hiking areas around Berlin. The forest is wild and natural and there are really a lot of mushrooms this year. A wonderful autumn light accompanied us.
